Introducing Dr. Geo!

Dear Reader,

I’d like to introduce you to Dr. Geovanni Espinosa. (You can just call him Dr. Geo.) He’s the newest member of Clear Health Now's growing team of medical experts.

And believe me — you’re going to want to hear what he has to say.

But first, a little background. Dr. Geo is the founder and director of the Integrative Urology Center at New York University (NYU) Langone Medical Center. Before joining NYU, he completed a fellowship at the Center for Holistic Urology at Columbia University Medical Center.

He earned his naturopathic doctorate and masters in acupuncture in 2003 from the University of Bridgeport, School of Naturopathic Medicine.

Today, he’s a renowned integrative urology specialist with a busy clinical practice in New York — not to mention an editorial board member with the Natural Medicine Journal, an adjunct professor in nutrition and complementary medicine at NYU’s Nutrition Master of Science program, and an international lecturer on the application of integrative medicine in clinical settings.

True to his resume, Dr. Geo’s clinical expertise runs the men’s health gamut — from prostate cancer, prostatitis, benign prostate enlargement (BPH), and erectile dysfunction to chronic penis pain, chronic scrotum and testicular pain, overactive bladder, and anti-aging.

Do I have your attention yet?

Well, keep reading... because Dr. Geo is bringing a lot more than a laundry list of impressive credentials to the table. He’s bringing his obsessive and tireless devotion to finding real, permanent solutions to chronic diseases with him, too.

See, for Dr. Geo, this mission is personal.

Dr. Geo didn’t start out with a dream of becoming a leading expert in men’s health. In fact, he began his undergraduate studies in healthcare administration. But everything changed when he had an epiphany that drew him to the front lines of clinical practice, where he could offer real help to real patients.

That’s when he switched gears and threw himself full throttle toward his goal of becoming the doctor he is today. He was going to do whatever it took — even if it took a decade.

And then there was his father. Growing up as a first-generation Cuban American in the Bronx, Dr. Geo remembers watching him succumb to all of the chronic illnesses that continue to ravage the American health care system: weight gain, high blood pressure, out of control blood sugar — the works.

His father was aging at a breakneck pace — and nothing was able to stop it. That’s when Dr. Geo set his sights on integrative medicine. Because the best that conventional medicine had to offer simply wasn’t good enough.

In the years of tireless research that followed, Dr. Geo went from a fast-food-eating football player to a full-fledged advocate of whole foods and squeaky clean living. He internalized his studies, and put everything he learned to work in his own life — and in his father’s life, as well.

When Dr. Geo’s father eventually passed away at nearly 90 years old, he had already lived 15 years longer than the oldest living member of his family. And he was only taking one prescription medication — a far cry from the dizzying daily regimen that Dr. Geo made it his mission to transform.

“My experience with my father is what really drew me toward men’s health,” Dr. Geo says. So when his neighbor — who was a practicing urologist — introduced him to the field, the rest, as they say, was history.

So what’s Dr. Geo’s practice all about now?

When he’s not spending time with his wife and three kids at his home in Riverdale, NY, Dr. Geo is in Manhattan helping men stay in the game by teaching them to take control of their own health.

Doctor comes from the Latin word docere, which means teacher.” says Dr. Geo. “And I take that seriously. Inspire, motivate, and educate—my practice is built on these three concepts, and they all work together.”

And what does he think is the biggest health challenge facing men today?

“Well, there are two problems,” he says. “The first—and something I saw in my dad — is that men can be pretty stubborn. They won’t ask for help until they’re already in crisis. And that’s why dealing with the root cause of serious health issues like high blood pressure, erectile dysfunction, or prostate disease is so important. Because you can head off a lot of these issues just by knowing how your body works and giving it the tools it needs to work properly.”

“The second problem — which stems directly from the first — is that we are operating in a broken health care system that’s overly dependent on drugs. The patients that walk into my office don’t have a Viagra deficiency. And I don’t spend my day treating prostates. I’m treating people, with a whole lot of other body parts that affect one another. Compartmentalization of medicine is a huge problem, because everything is connected.”

“We’ve also lost our connection to the healing aspects of natural substances. Nutrition heals, medicinal plants heal, and so does ‘lifestyle medicine’ — in other words, tackling disease with plain old common sense instead of an arsenal of prescriptions. The role of a doctor is to treat patients as a whole, not just a bunch of separate parts — and to get out of the way and let the body do what it knows how to do. But the truth is, most doctors in this country don’t have a clue how to do this. They don’t have any training in nutrition or lifestyle medicine. So well-meaning as they may be, they just do what they learned in medical school — they write prescriptions.”

“And listen, I’m not saying there’s not a place for that. Obviously, there’s a role for prescription drugs. And for acute problems, you can’t beat modern medicine. But when it comes to chronic problems, our system fails us in a very costly way, because it doesn’t focus on the big picture and it addresses symptoms in a vacuum. Doctors of the future need to look for root causes rather than band-aids.”

And that’s exactly what Dr. Geo does. Because in addition to being one of the leading experts in men’s health today, he’s also a master formulator of the most innovative supplements for prostate, bladder, and sexual health on the market.

The bottom line: If you’re ready to live better, stronger, longer, and smarter, stick with Dr. Geo. Because no matter what you’re up against — whether it’s prostate cancer, ED, or heart disease — you’re still in the driver’s seat. And he can show you the way back.

We'll be bringing you Dr. Geo's perspectives each week. Stay tuned.

Yours in health,
