[Revealed] The shocking link between cancer treatment and mustard gas

Chemotherapy is far more toxic than many of us realize

Most people don’t realize just how poisonous chemotherapy truly is... or that you can trace its origins all the way back to the deadly mustard gas used in World War I.

The story of how a compound that was banned by the Geneva Protocol as too inhumane to be used during wartime was given the green light to be administered to unsuspecting Americans is stranger than fiction.

And if you or a loved one have gone through or are currently going through chemotherapy, you’ll be shocked at the truth behind the $107 billion chemotherapy industry.1

Gas Mask

The Origins of Mustard Gas

During World War I, trench warfare had shifted the rules of combat. Forward advances were impossible — any attacking troops would immediately be mowed down by machine guns and bombs.

So each side began looking for unconventional ways to break through the heavy defenses of their enemies.

The British began researching tanks and coordinated artillery, while the Germans put their resources into a young German-Jewish chemist named Fritz Haber.

In a strange twist of history, Haber is the man almost every single person on Earth today owes their life to...

While also being the creator of the most monstrous weapon known to humanity.

That’s because in the first decade of the 20th century, Haber figured out how to distill nitrogen from the air and convert it into ammonia, which then could be used to create synthetic fertilizer.2

It was said that Haber’s discovery “pulled bread from the air.” Prior to his discovery, it was estimated that the Earth could only support 1.5 billion people — there simply wasn’t a way to grow enough food to feed any more than that.3

But synthetic fertilizer changed everything. It increased crop yields and made farming more consistent and reliable. And it handed humanity the keys to the global population boom of the 20th century.

However, there was a dark side to Haber’s work. The same processes that could capture nitrogen from the air could also be used to capture other chemicals — like chlorine and sulfur — and transform them into incredibly painful and dangerous chemical weapons.

Haber, a German nationalist, threw himself into developing these horrendous weapons with the hope of securing a German victory. And on the evening of April 22, 1915, Haber watched as his creation was released upon the battlefield and began drifting slowly toward British troops.

When the 15-foot wave of greenish-yellow gas made contact with the British troops, it immediately entered their lungs and began searing their insides.

How hellish must the scene have been, as thousands of young men began grasping at their throats, unable to breath, the toxic gas searing their insides. The effect of mustard gas has been described as “drowning on land,” as your lungs and throat fill with blood and phlegm.

Over the next three years, gas would become a constant of trench warfare.

And after the Germans lost in 1918, world leaders agreed that chemical warfare was simply too horrifying to ever be used again.

The World War II Accident That Led to Chemotherapy

Many of the leaders during World War II had been soldiers in the trenches of the previous war. They had experienced the horrific effects of mustard gas, chlorine gas, and other chemical weapons. Hitler himself was in the hospital recovering from a mustard gas attack the day Germany surrendered in 1918.

So, despite the pure, unmitigated destruction of World War II, no one could bring themselves to unleash these hellish weapons again. But fearful that the losing Nazis would use them as a last resort, in 1943, President Franklin Roosevelt ordered that the USS John Harvey deliver 100 tons of mustard gas stockpiles to the European theater in case the United States had to retaliate.4

The USS Harvey was stationed off the coast of Italy, near a town by the name of Bari. On December 2, 1943, the German Luftwaffe bombed Harvey and about a dozen other naval ships stationed there, which released 100 tons of mustard gas into the bay and the nearby town.

All of the sailors were killed either by the bombs or the mustard gas. And in the days and weeks following the attack, military physicians began to notice the telltale signs of mustard gas exposure in the townspeople and civilian workers of the area as well.

Obviously, the military brass couldn’t admit that there had been mustard gas on board the USS Harvey. If Hitler thought the Allies had been preparing a chemical assault, he might have used them himself.

Nevertheless, Lt. Col. Stewart Francis Alexander was dispatched to the town to manage the treatment of the townspeople. He had no clue that a massive stockpile of chemical weapons had been harbored there, but he couldn’t help but notice the telltale signs of mustard gas exposure.

Suspecting there was more to the story than he was being told, Lt. Col. Alexander began his own investigation.

By carefully tracing the position of the victims at the time of the attack, he was able to pinpoint the USS John Harvey as the epicenter of what he suspected to be a release of mustard gas.

His suspicions were confirmed when he found a fragment of an American M47A1 bomb that was used to house the deadly toxin.5

He immediately began treating the survivors for mustard gas poisoning, saving thousands of lives in the process. Due to the high number of witnesses as well as Lt. Col. Alexander’s report, the U.S. Chiefs of Staff were forced to admit to the accident in 1944.

Yet Britain, which was also part of the operation, refused to do the same. Churchill ordered all documents associated with the incident to be purged and stated that the soldiers’ deaths were caused by “burns due to enemy action.”6

Lt. Col. Alexander took tissue samples from the soldiers and sent them back to the lab to be further analyzed, and it was there that doctors noticed a strange pattern.

Mustard Gas Seemed to Stop Certain Cells from Replicating

Researchers noticed that the victims of the attack had extremely low white blood cell counts.

Like cancer cells, white blood cells have the ability to rapidly proliferate. And the ability of mustard gas to halt this proliferation led some researchers to posit that the weapon could be used against cancer as well.

Two Yale doctors — Louis Goodman and Alfred Gilman — led the charge. By 1946, the duo had formulated mechlorethamine, the first mustard gas-derived chemotherapy drug.7

The idea of circulating a drug through the body to silently kill the cancer, rather than performing invasive surgery or radiation therapy, was intriguing.

And it took the medical world by storm.

However, the real truth about the new class of cancer therapies was far from rosy.

The Breakthrough That Wasn’t a Breakthrough at All

Every oncologist wanted a piece of this new therapy, and the use of mustard-based chemo drugs spread rapidly throughout the United States.

But over time, that initial optimism gave way to frustration. After stopping treatment, remission would be brief, and the cancer would return with a vengeance.

It’s not hard to see why. Chemotherapy completely wrecks your immune system, attacking the DNA of your white blood cells just like it attacks the DNA of your cancer cells.

So what you’re left with is a race against time. The main strategy of chemotherapy is to destroy the cancer cells before too much damage is done to your healthy cells.

So chemo is unleashed into your bloodstream on a path of destruction, destroying virtually every cell it comes into contact with.

This is why chemo patients will often lose their nails or hair, experience extreme nausea, bruise easily, and become fatigued.

You hair, nails, and immune cells are especially vulnerable because, like cancer cells, they divide rapidly. But the poison also decimates your gut flora, leading, in many cases, to extreme diarrhea.

The end result is that your body is left weaker than ever before, and as soon as the treatment ends, the cancer cells are free to invade once again, and you have no natural defenses left to stop them.

The End of Chemo?

It shouldn’t be a surprise that a weapon designed to kill our enemies would have such horrible side effects when injected into our own bodies.

But if chemotherapy worked, it would be worth it. However, a study published in the journal Clinical Oncology found that, at best, chemotherapy only works about 2% of the time.8

That’s abysmal.

Especially considering the pain, suffering, and low quality of life it causes.

Yet chemotherapy is just one of the many myths that the medical-industrial complex keeps pushing.

After all, sales of chemo drugs to sick people make the pharma companies — and the doctors, who themselves sell chemo drugs — $107 billion every year!

So it’s no wonder millions of people are still fed this ineffective poison.

But cancer isn’t the only myth the mainstream medical establishment is lying to you about.
